UNIGIS Abschlussarbeiten

Paul Jereb [05-2014]:

geoCRM. Business GIS im Kundenbeziehungsmanagement

Diese Arbeit ist online verfügbar: Download

This master thesis outlines, if and how the recent evolution of GIS technologies can be used in the area of enterprise information systems, with special (and spatial) focus on customer relationship management. The research is carried out in two steps: to evaluate the existence of the technical requirements, a geoCRM prototype is developed and to analyze the impact on sales- and decision making processes, experts are consulted. In chapter 1 the topic of the thesis is introduced, the motivation of the author stated followed by definitions of the used terms. After giving an overview of the state of research, the goals of the thesis are outlined and the methodology used to reach them explained. Chapter 2 introduces the most important theoretical and technological principles. In chapter 3 a requirement profile for a geoCRM system is drafted. Chapter 4 gives an overview of the possibilities “geoenhancing” a CRM system opens up. Through the perspective of business mapping, location intelligence, geomarketing and mobile usage potential areas of application are developed. The following chapter 5 discusses the implementation of a “geoenhanced” CRM prototype. During this chapter the used software architecture is presented, the spatial database enhancements explained and the geocoding of the existing address datasets discussed. After describing the implemented web mapping component, the integration in the existing CRM application is outlined. Finally chapter 6 summarizes the results of the prototype implementation and the expert consultations, evaluates them and gives an outlook on possible research in this area. Last but not least, the findings of the thesis are discussed with regard to the literature and a conclusion drawn.
